New Album Tuesday
UPDATE: I created a playlist in Spotify of all these albums. Enjoy: http://bit.ly/pwRGQ9
I’ve been seeing the date October 4th pop up a lot lately, and always in relation to new and awesome albums coming out.
“Siberia” – LIGHTS
Lights is easily one of my favorite new artists. She has a soft but powerful voice, can “tickle a gnarly synth,” and listening to her music just puts me in a good mood. Siberia will be her second full album, and looks to be a departure from her very electro-pop influenced debut album “The Listening.” Siberia features a fair amount of dubstep and “dirty” electro riffs. She’s definitely growing as an artist and branching out, which makes this my most anticipated album this October.
“Odd Soul” – Mutemath
While I’ve been a Mutemath fan for a few years, I recently saw them in concert, and that turned me into a legitimate fanboy. Their sound is so unique and their stage presence is so engaging, that I can’t help but love them. Check out the Odd Soul preview, with “Odd Soul” and “Blood Pressure”:

“…Is For Karaoke” – Relient K
Relient K is releasing an album of covered songs, with everything from Cyndi Lauper to Gnarls Barkley to Justin Beiber, all done in the signature pop punk style. Check out the EP on Spotify, and get the full album when it hits shelves on Magic Day.

“Paradiso” – Hayley Westenra & Ennio Morricone
I’ve got a soft spot for the dulcet tones of this musical maven. The UConn Ballroom team often uses her “Dark Waltz” for practice, and she’s got a great album of Celtic Songs as well. Combined with Ennio Morricone, an exceptional modern composer (most well known for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly), “Paradiso” should prove an exquisite piece of art.
Honorable Mentions:
“Awakening” – blessthefall
I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention this one. While I’m not a huge fan of screaming metal, they’re pretty good. Here’s to you, Billy.
“Radiosurgery” – New Found Glory
I
I needed a sixth. And any band who can effectively cover Sixpence None The Richer deserves a mention in my book.
(NOTE: If you don’t already have Spotify, you should get it. Let me know if you need an invite, I think I’ve got a couple to give out.)
